Chapter Seventeen: 30 November, 2004
Driving North Again

hello all,

so, we went driving north this past weekend

AND I'M AN AUNTIE OF A NIECE! I HAVE A NIECE! I'M SO HAPPY!

it's a girl . . . she's going to get spoiled right rotten, we've finally got a girl!

sorry

driving north, we detoured again, ended up at that gorgeous beach.

We also stopped and saw a couple of kauri trees. When we finally got back on track, we stopped in Kawakawa to visit the hunterwasser bathrooms (I've probably mispelled it) which were super cool

.

Patrick really enjoyed the train tracks that go right through the main drag. On Dec 18th in Kawakawa they'll have a famous couple (who happen to be hypnotists) in town right before they rock into the night with over 5000 karaoke songs to choose from! Pat had a laugh about that too.

We got a little lost like I said, and we pulled over at one point. While consulting the map I felt eyes boring into my skull so I turned and looked. There was a horse trying to get as close to the car as it could get and it was just staring at us so I took that picture. I guess it's camera shy because it walked away. After checking the map out, we decided to head to Russell. It used to be a pit stop for whalers and the like.

We got there and it was gorgeous! I loved how out of place the motorcycles seemed. Isn't the duck cute? We strolled along the strand and main drag looking for some dinner. It was five pm and we were kind of hungry. No one - not a single restaurant was open for dinner until six pm. through the trees.

We took our pictures and left. We ate in Whangarei. Just outside of Whangarei, we stopped at a waterfall. It was more like a trickle, but we did take a few pictures of it. There I am looking at Patrick beside the trickle peeking

Check out the road! Most of the roads off of the highway and out of town look like this! Windy, no shoulder and the speed limit is 100 km/hr and sometimes they'll suggest speeds like slow down to 25 k at the lowest it's crazy!

We watched Garden State last night. I really really enjoyed it - bawled like a baby for some reason, but I really loved it!

I guess I ought to get ready for work
missing you millions!
Mom April
