Chapter Two: 5 September, 2004

the picture I called the 'sweetest tourguide in the whole world' is a view
from the winery in the valley on Weiheke Island. He was so fun, delightful,
in a great mood and very happy to be giving us a tour. He was really really
great!

The next picture is me TRYING to look natural because patrick is getting
tired of my cheesy hammy self and wants more 'natural' looking pictures, so
I just tried to look away (where I'm looking is across the street towards
the april arcade) and it didn't really work now did it? He was saying that
it's all well and good to have a camera to take pictures, but sometimes
having a camera is more work, you know, trying to make or set up pictures
rather than just enjoying ourselves. I like taking making and setting up
pictures. I dunno

THE INTERSECTION!~~!!!! When I was little, I once caught a glimpse of some
movie or television show my mom was watching or something, I don't really
remember because I was little - I saw masses of people all rushing into the
middle of the street crossing in every single direction, even in the middle
of the road. I always thought that they'd made it up, but maybe they had
that in new york or something, who knows why we remember strange things like
that? anyway, I can understand patrick's excitement about wanting to cross
the street diagonally corner to corner, it's super fun, and it's all over
the place here, not just right downtown. I stood up on a bench to take that
shot before meeting patrick for lunch.

I said, 'OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT?" so Patrick said, 'What, this?" and I said,
"YEAH PICK IT UP!!" so he did and I said, "show me so I can take a picture!"
so he did!~ flowers in the dead of winter. This place is amazing!

There was this big ass wooden chair on the way down to the gorgeous beach on
weiheke island. we both sat in it, we both had pictures in it, but his isn't
in this particular email.

I have more pictures to come, I've uploaded them onto the computer, resized
them, but I haven't thought through all of my write ups yet entirely. plus I
start my new job tomorrow. I'm nervous and can't really sleep.

some of the pictures to come include F I R E M E N ! ! ! AND THEY WERE HOT!
! ! (not because of any fires . . . ) but patrick took the picture of them
and they were across the street. The alarms in here are obnoxious.
absolutely no one can sleep through them and they went off at four oclock,
six oclock and eight oclock. I think someone was pulling pranks. we're on
the tenth floor. after such awfully interrupted sleep, I was happy enough to
die in a fiery death so long as it would mean I'd get some freakin sleep.
I'm over tired, over excited, over fed . . . - we found the BEST restaurant
tonight!!! the food was super yummy, the service was overly exceptional, and
we really really enjoyed ourselves!! so we left a tip. you only tip for
exceptional service and it was the best I've seen so far here in auckland. I
liked the service there better than the salmon house on the hill, the
revolving restuarant, bridges, hell, anywhere I've been. I asked patrick if
he thought it might be like that the next time we came. he said, 'probably
not.' I'm inclined to believe him because I've gotten overly excited about
other restaurants before, and returned only to be a little disappointed.

now I'm rambling.

we went to kelly tarltons ( the supposed aquarium equivalent) and at first
it was bitterly disappointing with all their stupid PAINTINGS of sea life.
and their fake killerwhale head that pops up out of the water chomping down
on a fake seal in the 'ORCA ROOM'. bleh

we're still looking for a car. and a new place to live. sort of.

alright, I'm signing out and maybe going to bed.

take care, miss you millions!!

April aka Mom
