the heat is unbearable. it's too hot to move, too hot to think the humidity is oppressive - heavy why won't it just rain?
it is raining... it is still hot there is no air conditioning where I work. patrick won't get one for our home.
i am miserable.
Work's been super busy. One night a week I've had to stay late for
training or meetings or whatever. On a Saturday we did some team building.
Six different Bear Park sites got together on that hot saturday and
we spent the entire day at the beach doing team building. I got burnt.
My back is starting to peel. It's the part of my back just below my
neck. The first pic goes Ally (the supervisor) Adele (who is now away
on practicum who used to be a supervisor but now isn't because of changes
in ECE licensing or something) Adele's been going to school for about
seven years or so upgrading her ece part time, Lynn (you can see her
bandana and she's my head teacher from south africa), Me and Tania (from
Dunedin and our new co teacher in my room). The second pic is me and a bunch of two year old teachers trying to get out of a big knot.
We went to Waiheke the next day and did a sculpture walk / tour. We were probably half way through when Patrick and I were discussing the lack of wheelchair accessibility. We went with Nancy and David. They are from the USA. Nancy is supervisor in training at my centre. These silhouettes were kind of cool.
Check out the super swank home in the background. You could see in the windows alot of their art collection. We were sort of treading on their front lawn, but not really, the path was marked. They had a gorgeous dog in the yard, unleashed, very free. That's one thing I absolutely adore about NZ . . . I haven't seen a pile of dog doo anywhere ever. No wonder people go barefoot even in swank restaurants on valentines day! they don't have to worry about stepping in something! Anyway, David said, "Even the furniture they obviously use is art!" They also had a super long pool that ended in a waterfall sort of.
they all agreed I should stand by it since I matched. . . :P
This was the next art piece after that accessibility talk. It's not yellow - it's gold leaf.
note how davids jacket totally camoflauges him. we lost him a couple times.. .
we all absolutely loved the door! That's nancy peeking at patrick. I did a silly marilyn monroe pose with the door, but I'm not posting that.
David was super impressed with the stairs. Patrick had to stand in the bush to get that shot.
I liked this last thing best. I dunno about everyone else. There was a voting station at the end, but it was closed when we got there.
patrick said i should write an email. I've been putting it off since we haven't taken any pictures of anything since the Napier trip. it's too bloody hot to do anything. lemonade here is carbonated. I don't want some crap carbonated drink to cool and refresh my body! With all of these late nights and long work weeks and the heat, I'm drained. We're moving. Found us a sweet little three bedroom rancher in Te Atatu (tayahdahtoo not TAY' AH' tatoo) The kiwi girls at work laughed at me till I said it the way they do. They even said that they just talk lazy and slur it out as fast as they can or something . . . I don't care, they aren't laughing at me anymore now that I say it the stupid head way they do. We move next weekend. single pane glass, fire place . . . we're going to FREEZE in a month or two. it doesn't get below ten degrees, but still, ten degrees is pretty freakin cold eh. people are saying we ought to get us a de humidifier. on a positive note, my strawberry plant is still flowering. xox April
