Chapter Thirtyseven: 20 May 2005
Recapping

Hello everyone!

We don’t really go exploring anymore – we’ve turned into homebodies. Patrick has taken to the occasional morning run, and I’m worn out, showing and the baby has been noticeably kicking up a storm. I went through some of our old pictures and pulled out a few that I thought deserved some web time.

This first one is of a giant massive huge overwhelming tree we saw on our walk to Sydney’s Opera House. It had us in awe. What a beautiful tree!

Throughout Rotorua are plenty of these kinds of hot pools. You don’t want to step into them that’s for sure because they get as hot as an oven preheated to bake a cake or roast some chicken! They don’t smell that yummy let me assure you, they stink to high heaven, but they were pretty super cool, and I think the boys really enjoyed them too.

I’m not sure if I posted this picture or not. Police cars are a sort of different colour here. There are all sorts of issues regarding 111 which is the emergency number here in New Zealand rather than 911 at home. Police tend not to respond to a few of these calls, people are getting hurt or worse, and it’s all over the news, “Where were the police when the call was made?” It’s kind of unnerving. They’re saying that the reason it shows that New Zealand has a low crime rate is because sometimes when calls are made to 111, they are recorded that the police did in fact show up and the situation had resolved itself by the time they did or something. It’s not right, and it’s downright freaky. Anyway, I’m ranting.

This picture didn’t go on because it’s blurry, but after a million dead air shots, this flying fox managed to be caught on the digital camera.

This wonderful Maori carving can be seen just inside of the Sky Tower. It’s pretty cool.

While we were still living downtown, it was Indian New Year (I’m really sorry I can’t think of the proper term at the moment, I’m sure I’ll remember at some point). Patrick and I wandered down Queen Street to peeky see at the activities.

It’s dizzying looking up at the Sky Tower. I can’t believe people bungy jump off of that thing!

This beautiful frog was on display at the Sydney Airport. We tried to have our photo taken with it, but those all turned out very blurry. I think we were exhausted and couldn’t wait to go home.

This is Patrick’s most recent photo. He might kill me for putting it up – but he SHAVED. And he DID NOT TELL ME he was going to do it! He just went for a regular shower, and BOOM I was greeted with all of this baby face! I really wish he’d tell me when he was going to do that. He doesn’t have to look at that face every day, but I do.

This is what the fire trucks are called in Sydney Australia. Super Pumpers! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! That’s almost as good as the pink tow trucks! Ahahahahahahahahahaha!

Much love,
Xox,
April
